ON April 26 you published my letter entitled ‘Still waiting’, in which I described the continued lack of response from one of the Rixton and Woolston ward councillors.

For comparison purposes I put another issue to a different councillor, representing my ward.

His response was simply amazing.

He replied instantly and invited me to attend his surgery.

Unfortunately I was unable to do so. A couple of days later he came to see me and dealt with the issue, to my complete satisfaction. Through your column I want to thank Cllr Tony McCarthy for his professionalism, diligence and dedication. He is an inspiration to us all and a role-model that newer councillors might adopt.

I again emailed the other councillor at the end of April in an attempt to enlist his help on the problem of potholes. This included some that are quite severe on the road where he lives. I regret to say that he has again failed to respond.

These facts speak for themselves.

As one of his constituents, I no longer have confidence in that councillor’s ability to represent my interests.

I would like to hear from other readers with similar views or possibly some who might have received a more satisfactory response.
