I OFTEN walk our little dog around my village of Burtonwood where I have lived for 45 years and as you can imagine I have seen some changes.

But recently I’m afraid to say it is not for the better, which I feel saddened at saying.

We have a team of lovely volunteers who all take part in Burtonwood in Bloom and spend their own time planting flower beds, baskets and planters all around the village, which are beautiful.

However over the past few weeks I have noticed that all their hard work is in vain as most of these have been vandalised.

The planter ripped out and flowers were strewn everywhere, why would anyone do this? I just can’t understand it.

Not only this but the village is also plagued by dog fouling.

As a responsible dog owner I always carry bags and clear up after our dog.

It is a bit unpleasant yes, but it’s not hard.

I would like to end by saying a great big thank you to the volunteers in our village for all your hard work and efforts and apologise for the minority who are spoiling it for the majority.
