FURTHER to the report by Adam Everett concerning an overturned car at the junction of Church Street with Farrell Street (Warrington Guardian, March 1).

My father and I would like to thank a number of people who showed very great kindness and compassion.

The paramedics, ambulance staff, firefighters and police were professional and considerate in their care of the casualty.

My father would particularly like to thank a very kind lady who took off her cardigan and rolled it up so he could have something to support his head until emergency services were able to remove him from the vehicle.

It is heartening to know that such acts of kindness can abound when people most need them.

A number of others were also helpful by steadying the car to prevent further movement until the rescue services were able to secure it.

Thanks are due to the staff at Sainsbury’s for keeping the shopping in their chiller unit until it could be retrieved.

In this day and age it was a real surprise to find several staff who had been worried about the consequences for the driver and were then visibly relieved to learn the outcome.

I am delighted to say that my father, following his blue light journey to the major trauma unit at Aintree Hospital and a thorough round of tests, has been discharged, somewhat shocked with cuts and bruises but amazingly with no serious injuries.

We count our blessings.
