I BEG anyone thinking about getting a wood-burning stove to think again.

I can understand if you live rurally and don’t have neighbours around you.

I live on a housing estate in Appleton and I can honestly say my home has been ruined by inconsiderate neighbours with woodburners.

Both sides of my house have got them and in an evening the smell is so bad in my house I can’t sit in my living room.

Both of the neighbours say they are burning treated wood but I have my doubts.

They are definitely not designed to be neighbour friendly in modern housing estates where houses are built in such close proximity.

I presume they smell nothing in their house as the smoke goes straight up their chimney and down mine. I even bought a chimney guard which seals the opening to my fireplace and the smell still comes in via the vents.

Please be neighbour aware if you are thinking of buying one and if you already have one make sure you burn the correct wood.
