AN article in the Warrington Guardian stated a ‘global vision for town economy’ (January 25).

Cheshire and Warrington Local Enterprise Partnership is seeking investment from the global community for the benefit of business and local communities.

Can it be possible to have such investment when Warrington Borough Council de-values the present business and community development that we already have.

Businesses have invested in opportunities on the A49 corridor and are now being undermined by Warrington Borough Council planning an untreated waste transfer station in the middle of it.

Near to the proposed waste station are eating establishments, food stores, hospital, education and leisure facilities, and many other outlets at Junction 9 Retail Park.

It is surrounded by residential properties.

The untreated waste will be (household waste, waste from parks and streets including dog foul litter and gutter sludge).

The waste will be from all of Warrington Borough’s areas – waste that has been in household bins for two weeks and more.

There is no guarantee from the council that there will not be contamination or smells from this, in fact they admit that ‘there’s no doubt that waste can be smelly to deal with’.

The A49 as anyone knows is already over utilised by traffic and this proposed waste site is in the most traffic congested part of the A49.

The outcome for residents of the area and businesses trading at Junction 9 Retail Park will be more traffic congestion, unwarranted smells with increased vermin and flies.

Bewsey, Dallam, Longford, Orford and Whitecross councillors are all against this proposal.

Clearly Warrington Borough Council’s development directorate had got this wrong.

We don’t pay them to devalue our lives.
