IT appears that Warrington’s council tax will rise by 5.99 per cent for 2018-19 with the usual complaint that central government has cut its contribution again.
As usual various organisations’ support will probably be reduced or cut completely as part of the austerity needs.
But it appears that a figure of £400k+ has been, or is being, spent on a preferred development option for additional housing.
That is a lot of money for a ‘plan’.
How much is the development itself going to cost? What with Satnam also proposing various developments around the town more greenfield areas will be lost.
Is there some secret scheme to extend Warrington to the extent that it will totally fill the gap between Manchester and Liverpool or, as has been noted previously, is it part of Warrington’s plan to achieve city status by becoming much larger?
Also if, as the council states, it is going to be short of money why not tap into the £10 million tucked away in off-shore accounts?
If it is not to be touched will there be a reduction in the number of council personnel, of which I believe there are at least three, on salaries of £125,000 to help toward saving cash for the town?
I will not hold my breath on that one.
