DESPITE having voted remain I must disagree with Ken Foster’s assumption that I am a supporter of the European Union (Warrington Guardian, January 11).

While it may be ‘corrupt and undemocratic’ it is at present the only power which is capable of preventing the country from completely falling into the hands of the most corrupt and undemocratic organisation in Europe – the Conservative Party.

If your neighbour prevented you from being run over by a bus you would thank him even if you did not like him, so I am grateful for the EU.

As for being lied to, well Nigel Farage didn’t really want Brexit hence he is now trying to get another referendum knowing that 10 per cent of Brexit voters have changed their minds.

Michael Gove and Boris Johnson were staunch Remainers until the idea of opposing David Cameron, and being seen as martyrs when they lost, would help their Prime Ministerial prospects.

I am also sick of being lied to by pro EU politicians pretending to be anti.
