I WOULD like to state that I am in total agreement with the decision by Warrington Borough Council to activate bus lane enforcement cameras.

However this has to be done when the correct road signage has been put in place.

Like many drivers I am sick of sitting in traffic queues along Knutsford Road while other drivers choose to ignore the existing bus lane signs.

On Monday, September 18, I needed to visit the plumbers merchant situated in Old Road behind St Rocco’s shop.

I drove the full length of Knutsford Road in the correct lane until opposite the old Golden Lion public house.

Indicating left I moved into the nearside lane preparing to turn left into School Street between taxi office and Royal Oak branch public house.

Imagine my anger when I received a penalty charge notice for crossing into the bus lane.

There is no road signage to inform drivers that they have to carry out left turn manoeuvres at a sharp 90 degrees and only when there is a break in the broad white line.

I suggest Warrington Borough Council spends some money on updating the very poor road signage throughout the town, it is extremely poor.

I intend to appeal against this notice as I carried out a perfectly legal turning manoeuvre.
