I HAVE noticed a few towns and city centres have started to convert disused areas with planters and green spaces with the aim of providing food to the public.
For example in Manchester’s Northern Quarter, it already has three different sites with grow boxes that have been adopted by residents and businesses to provide free veg.
Why can’t we do something similar in Warrington town centre?
The benefits are vast – increased community spirit, green spaces, biodiversity, and of course free veg.
There is plenty of waste land near Central Station that could easily be adapted. I’m sure plenty of people would provide their time and energy (myself included).
It wouldn’t have to be huge to start with, just a few planters around disused areas and the idea could take off. If you can help email ryan3449@gmail.com.
