FORMER Mayor Geoff Orange’s comments on the Local Life section of the Warrington Guardian (September 7) adds weight to Adam Everett’s report on August 20 about the problems being caused by companies who allow their employees to park in what are often dangerous or obstructive places.

Warrington Borough Coucnil admits that it currently has no powers to deal with the situation at Cinnamon Park and Olympic Park.

However, Adam writes that he has seen an email from WBC that states ‘residents will be consulted on possible permanent parking restrictions on Crab Lane’.

This consultation needs to be extended 400 meters down the road to include the Longbarn Residents Association that Geoff chairs and take place soon.

In addition, there is a need to enforce restrictions at the Insall shopping car park restrictions in Fearnhead, they should be made compulsory.

Drivers without disability badges are parking in disabled bays while others are leaving their vehicles in the ‘keep clear’ bay outside the Co-op and others are parking on the double yellow outside Martins, the newsagents.

WBC estates section, which manages this car park, says ‘there is no valid traffic order for this location, therefore any markings are advisory only’.

This selfish parking not only takes away much needed parking spaces for the disabled in this very busy car park but it creates obstacles on the one-way system.

Often the abandoned cars block the exit route.

If this is pointed out to the driver on their return they either ignore you or hurl abuse back as if they alone have a right to park where they want.

Given that this car park has many cameras surely action can be taken?
