AFTER reading that the new bridge may open earlier than expected (Warrington Guardian, August 24) I have not yet seen a full map of the route.
As for the Silver Jubilee bridge, I remember it being constructed from day one. The sight of the two sides slowly going towards each other was awesome.
When it opened in 1961, I was one of many who went to watch Princess Alexandra cut the tape.
Today the colour of the arch, close up and from a distance, is absolutely fantastic.
It annoys me in that the bridge has not been given more publicity on the TV and elsewhere.
It is truly a brilliant piece of architecture, and deserves its place in the bridges of the UK.
