AFTER looking at the council plan to build 8,000 to 9,000 new houses on green belt land, I wonder about the environmental impact this will have over the intended region.

Assuming each house has one car each (when in truth most have two), 8,000, possibly 16,000 vehicles would impact the environment.

If the M6 should be closed or the swing bridge in operation it would be total gridlock.

Where will all these people go for a GP, a hospital, a dentist?

Where will the children go to school?

Where will they all do their shopping and buy their fuel? Who will buy these properties? Very few young people can afford to buy houses these days.

Wikipedia says: “In essence, a green belt is an invisible line designating a border around a certain area, preventing development of the area and allowing wildlife to return and be established”.

Obviously it is wrong.

This is a plan for environmental disaster. Is this the legacy for our future?

I heard a great phrase today ‘elected dictatorship’.

Once a precedent is set...
