I FELT the need to write this letter as I feel like the residents of Warrington, especially Latchford, have been made to look like village idiots who still live in the 1950s in regard to the Victoria Park festival.

Firstly, I would like to bring to your attention that even though the licensing department advised they advertised this appropriately they in fact put up a few laminated posters on the park, then when challenged on this lack of notification, put posters on the fencing on the park.

Not all residents use the park, however close it is to their homes, and still have no idea what is about what is about to be thrust upon them.

As a resident I remember the turmoil we had to endure when the first V festival was held at Victoria Park.

Knutsford Road was a minefield to navigate, the park itself was barricaded off to residents or anyone that wanted to visit or even use the pathway to access Latchford through to Stockton Heath and this main pathway is now used by running clubs and dog walkers.

Will residents receive rebates due to the park being closed?

Will extra patrols be put on by the police and will this take them away from other duties like patrolling areas with severe ASB?

There has been an increase in drug dealing on Black Bear Park.

Are patrols going to continue?

We’ve seen on social media that many more officers are patrolling.

Will permits be given to residents for parking, will a towering scheme be implemented?

How will the borough council deal with vandalism? How will antisocial behaviour be dealt with?

What happens if the event runs over?

Will residents be able to access all roadways surrounding their homes?

We still believe this is not the right venue for such an event and I don’t think a free ticket to something we will be able to listen to in our living room will appease.

We have very diverse residents, some may be interested in attending the event and others not.

But Warrington Borough Council has ridden roughshod over us again.

The meeting was held at an inappropriate times when most people were in work.

Could the council please do us the courtesy of answering all of the above questions?

V O’NEILL Latchford
