I FEEL that I must write to warn the residents of south Warrington and Grappenhall in particular that under plans drawn up under the council’s preferred development option, Grappenhall will become a Garden City suburb.
This means that south east Warrington will become one big housing estate with 8,000 new homes being built over the next 20 years of which 6,300 will be on green belt.
The council has organised several public consultancy meetings although shamefully not in Grappenhall itself.
The Garden City Suburb is part of a masterplan to turn Warrington into a ‘New City’ which involves 24,774 new homes being built by 2037, of which 9,345 will be on green belt.
The plan is wrong on so many levels, especially with regard to the road networks, motorway access and ultimately the destruction of green belt land.
I strongly urge you to voice your objections as WBC has a deadline of September 12.
