AN open letter to Prime Minister, Theresa May.

I am writing to express my anger at the recent behaviour of Chancellor Philip Hammond.

He appears to be taking every opportunity to show dissension and spread doubts about our withdrawal from the European Union.

Along with 17,410,740 other British voters, you and I backed Leave last year and we want to see the results of the referendum respected.

It was the largest exercise in democracy in the history of our country and the answer people gave was clear – 7.8 per cent more people voted to Leave than to Remain.

We want timely control of our borders, control of our laws, control of our waters, control of our finances, and control of our destiny as a global trading nation.

Philip Hammond’s comments last week revealed that he wants to put off seizing the opportunities created by Brexit until 2022. This is incredible.

We didn’t vote to leave the European Union in order to endure free movement for another six years, and we didn’t vote for a so-called ‘transition deal’ that could leave us trapped in our current arrangements indefinitely.

The changes this man is campaigning for are irreversible.

He also claimed that Brexit was hurting consumers and that it caused ‘painful’ economic consequences, while boasting about plans to delay huge trade deals with global trade partners until the next general election.

He should be battling for Britain, rather than battling for Brussels.

Instead he is talking Britain down and working hard to deny us the freedoms that Brexit represents.

The only possible conclusion is that he is not fit for purpose.

He is unsuited to serve as Chancellor of the Exchequer, and you should sack him.
