FURTHER to the appeal in this week’s Warrington Guardian (July 13), I regret that Warrington Hospital is encouraging more people to buy plastic bags.

The money raised can never excuse the damage done by the bags when they are discarded.

It is possible to manufacture biodegradable bags – a few already do – but not enough.

I have great admiration for Warrington Hospital but feel sure that some of the large amount raised by car park charges could be used for improving outside space instead.
