I WAS born in Warrington in 1944.
My first job when I left Richard Fairclough School was with the Warrington Guardian newspaper in the reporters’ office.
When I reached the age of 16 I joined the Royal Air Force and trained as an aircraft flight mechanic at RAF Weeton in Lancashire after I completed the initial recruit period of eight weeks basic training at RAF Bridgnorth in Shropshire.
Oh happy days, alas gone forever.
I am a lifetime member of the RAF Association.
My best wishes to everyone at the Guardian and Warrington.
