I AM writing to you regarding Mr Clarke’s letter about increasing the speed limit to 40mph on the duel carriageway through Penketh (Warrington Guardian, June 8).
I pass Bargain Booze frequently and often see drivers failing to move into the outside lane when overtaking parked vehicles.
It is called defensive driving.
I have even seen learner drivers under instruction doing the same thing.
Forty mph is not excessive. It’s a speed suitable for the road.
It’s obvious Mr Harvey is not a driver who is familiar with defensive driving because if he was, he would move immediately into the outside lane when entering the carriageway from Tavistock Road when he sees parked vehicles.
To think it would be a good idea to reduce Sankey Way to 30mph is quite ridiculous.
Mr Harvey is probably one of those people who think we should have someone walking in front of us when driving carrying a red flag.
