Which is true?

I HAVE noticed that on a short section of the B5210, Woolston Grange Avenue, between the Kingsland Grange and Harpers Road traffic islands, there are conflicting speed limit signs.

There are two on the left hand side of the road at 50 mph, while there are two on the central reservation stating 40 mph.

The whole section of that road is approximately 400 yards long and, having recently been reported by a speed trap as doing 44 mph in a 40 limit on that very section, I would like to sort out which is the correct speed limit.

I have contacted Cheshire Police over this issue and they confirmed that the council is responsible for the signage.

This confusion in speed limit signs has resulted in me paying for and attending a driver awareness course.
