I FEEL we are missing the main route across the Mersey.

I walk regularly from Old Liverpool Road to the Stag swing bridge.

This route goes over a bridge called Forrest Way to a large roundabout to nowhere, through a cycle path down to Eastford Road and onto the main A5060.

Yes work to build the road is needed but this would alleviate traffic problems at Bevan Island.

The timing of travel is crucial due to people working on The Village side who come across the blue bridge at rush hour.

Yellow box junctions will not stop motorists blocking traffic light controlled junctions.

Fines may or police presence.

The pedestrian lights on Mersey Street from Bridge Street near The Academy cause the biggest problem.

Stop starts block the junction over the Mersey, so traffic from Knutsford Road doesn’t move due to cars from the retail park and Mersey Street constantly entering the yellow box junctions.

A foot bridge should have been introduced from Bridge Street across the junction allowing pedestrians to cross freely instead of constant red lights stopping the flow of traffic westerly over the bridge.

Redundant foot bridges litter Warrington’s roads. Sycamore Lane in Sankey to name just one.

The talk of a bridge from Gainsbough Road to Slutchers Lane will do nothing.

It will be a bridge too far like the Runcorn link. Could somebody explain why this roundabout to nowhere was built some years ago? It was suggested the tip was being extended.
