WITH reference to The Beatles in Warrington and the columns by Jeremy Craddock (Warrington Guardian, April 13).

I never saw them. My sister did, several times at Northwich Memorial Hall.

I think they were contracted through Lewis Buckley Entertainment, from Southport.

On one occasion they were set to crown the carnival queen in the local park.

The ‘ecstatic’ crowd broke through security cordons.

The group were quickly removed from the stage and jumped into a van from the steel works and taken to safety.

The forlorn queen was crowned at the hall that evening by the group.

In the late 1960s I worked for a well-known bank at a branch in Warrington.

A well-heeled middle aged lady from the Appleton area came to the office one day.

I had never seen or met her before so after the usual greeting and pleasantries I dealt with her banking requirements.

As I did she was most anxious to say how indignant she was that ‘Beatle Harrison’s’ parents were moving into her road (as you confirmed in a recent column).

I couldn’t show how concerned/ amused I was at this news and in her confiding in me.

I never saw her again and shortly afterwards left the bank.
