THERE has been a lot of talk about culture and whether Warrington has any over the past few weeks.

Well we may not be Vienna or Paris, but there does seem to be a lot going on.

Don’t forget, we have the oldest public museum and library in the country.

And before Christmas the protests against closures were so strong that every library now looks like it might now be saved.

Where else could you say that?

Where else are people passionate enough about books to take up their own time and effort to try to keep libraries working?

We went for a walk through Grappenhall Heys Walled Garden last week and there are dozens of art courses and workshops on offer.

We went to watch the Wolves and there were dance performances and art beneath the south stand showing the history of the town.

If we even get shortlisted in this City of Culture bid maybe there will be more.

But either way, it has got to be worth taking a gamble and taking the chance.

We can be more than we are at the moment.

I hope my town becomes a city and becomes somewhere people want to go to.

Maybe then we will all sit up and take notice at what is around is.

It is really rather good.
