LAST Tuesday I received a leaflet through my door informing me that the council can no longer afford to empty my garden waste bin due to cuts in government funding and the dire state of the council finances.

If I wish to continue to have said waste collected then for 2017 the charge will be £33, then a miracle must have happened.

Because in the Guardian I read that suddenly the council has £30 million to invest in a new bank and will own one third of this enterprise in return.

This at a time when established banks with a very large amount of funds behind them are in difficulties. Surely the lunatics have taken over the asylum?

Will the people who promoted this be responsible for any losses?
