AFTER reading Podium in the Warrington Guardian, saying jingoistic Brexit-loving oldsters are forcing Theresa May into The Donald’s tiny clutches.

The majority (nothing to do with age) voted for Brexit.

It’s not my (oldie) fault that the younger voters couldn’t be bothered to get out to the polling stations to cast theirs.

So if they didn’t turn up to vote, they must be happy to let their vote go with the majority.

Now the Lancashire issue. In 1974 we were told by the Boundary Commission that any changes would be only administrative only.

Warrington would still be in the real county of Lancashire.

Armed with this information, I wrote to the Duchy of Lancaster asking which real county does Warrington belong to. The letter states Warrington north of the Mersey is in fact part of Lancashire.

The boundary is still the Mersey.

If you look outside any church notice board you will see to this day.

North of the Mersey is the Diocese of Liverpool, south of the Mersey the Diocese of Chester St. The church still abides by the boundaries.

Now Mr Broomhead states to erect Lancashire signs would be confusing.

Sorry Mr Broomhead but you definitely don’t override the Queen.

The Duke of Lancaster had sovereignty rights within the county.

Yorkshire are our old rivals, but I really must admire them. They are so proud of their county with white rose flags flying everywhere.

We must man up and confess we made an administrative boundary mistake. Be proud of the red rose.

If you were born in Warrington north of the Mersey, you are Lancastrian.
