ANYONE stuck in traffic queues this week will have been left wondering the same thing as me no doubt.

How can one town be so badly hit by such chaos?

I thought Monday was bad enough and put it down to the rain and schools coming back after Christmas.

But Tuesday was even worse – admittedly not helped by the fire on the M6.

How much longer are the people of Warrington expected to suffer?

It was fine over Christmas when people were off work and schools were closed.

So what is the solution?

More children walking to school and less parents on the roads would help.

But there has to be something more wide reaching.

The Chester Road bypass is offering one solution.

And it might be fine if you are travelling north to south.

But correct me if I am wrong, is this not a one-way street?

And does that not simply mean the same queues coming the other way, clogging the roads in the other direction?

Whatever the long term prognosis is, we need to sort it out.

Surely businesses are eventually going to get fed up of their staff constantly coming in late because of the build-up every morning.

This town has so much going for it but the traffic is dragging it down.

We all deserve better.

Hopefully people in power have more plans than I do because it just seems to be getting worse.

I was hoping 2017 might be different. How wrong was I?
