I WAS cycling across Stockton Heath swing bridge on my way to see my parents in St Monica’s Close.

The lights were red on the crossroads between London Road and Ellesmere Road.

There was more than enough room to go down the left hand side but a woman in what looked like a new Mercedes pulled sharp to the left into my pathway giving me barely enough time to react.

Anyone familiar with the swing bridges in Latchford/Stockton Heath is aware there are drainage channels.

She forced me to react and I ended up going down, busting my hand and hitting my head. The lights did not change to green for 30 to 60 seconds.

My parents said she probably did it by accident but I keep going through the scenario and I just can’t reach any other conclusion that she did it out of spite.

By the grace of God I was only doing 3mph to 5mph because any faster would put myself and other road users in risk of serious injury.

What happened next restored my faith in humanity totally. First, a lady came and tried to help me up but I’m a big guy and with the shock I really couldn’t get up.

Then who can only be called my guardian angels arrived. Two men I’ve never seen in my life firstly helped me out of the gutter and to the pavement.

They asked if I would like an ambulance which I declined because other than cuts to my hand and legs and a small head injury I felt fine and still do.

They helped me to call my parents to come and pick me up and with even more acts of kindness they helped me up and put me on the bench at Stockton Heath.

If any of the two men, and what I assume were their female companions, are reading, I want to express my total gratitude.

Thank you again because you really helped me at a time in which I was so vulnerable.

I’ve got a slight concussion and bloody hands and legs but I’m totally fine thanks to my guardian angels.
