SETTING aside the crass, obstinate decision over car park charges at The Forge car park in Stockton Heath, the council needs to realise that if we must pay we expect a decent service.

Parking in The Forge, four hi-level light masts were unlit.

The steps between the upper and lower car park were unlit and treacherous with leaves.

The ticket machines are unlit so you can’t read the notices and see that it is free after 3pm. But it doesn’t matter anyway, as despite signs being plastered all over the car park saying ‘you must still display a ticket if you wish to park for free’, the machines won’t issue tickets after 3pm.

It would appear that not only do our councillors not understand the impact of local parking regulation and charges they have no better idea of how to run a parking facility.

I suggest until they make this car park safe and get the misleading signage right and readable the council suspends charges. Better yet abandon this ill-conceived idea completely.
