I’M proudly supporting the broad, cross-party residents’ campaign to save Warrington’s libraries, meeting the key campaigners, raising it on the parish council and telling LiveWire personally and politely to drop the closure plans.
So it’s sad that MP Helen Jones is undermining the campaign to save our libraries by refusing even to meet with LiveWire and making rude remarks about LiveWire personnel.
I have called her out on this because she is being petty and childish. Helen’s rattled response proves my point.
Between them, Helen Jones and her husband Mike Vobe, whom she employs, get well over £100,000 from the taxpayer every year.
So for her to make derogatory remarks about a respected Warrington businessman, Paul Taylor, who serves as a volunteer on a public body is a disgrace.
The fact Paul Taylor is a fellow Labour Party member makes it doubly disgraceful.
Such bad behaviour by Helen Jones must be challenged.
No wonder so many Labour members in Warrington North want to deselect Helen Jones and have a fresh face.
Helen Jones has not bothered to meet the councillor responsible for libraries.
She refused to meet the previous police and crime commissioner to talk about protecting people in Warrington.
She never bothers to meet the council leader to discuss important issues.
However Helen Jones did find time to write, for personal financial gain, a tawdry little book about her very brief time in government.
I hope Helen will apologise for her insulting behaviour.
Warrington deserves better in 2017.
