I HAVE worked for Warrington and Halton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for 28 years in various roles.

My current role as a senior clinical coder requires me to review patient notes in order to accurately record what diagnosis and treatments our patients have had.

This is as close to patients as I have been – until now.

My mum Marion Forster, who is 81, was recently diagnosed with cancer of the rectum.

Her treatment plan included a difficult operation which as you can imagine was very worrying for her and our family.

We had a lot of questions, were very worried and also scared of what may happen.

My mum was admitted to ward A6 and had her operation as planned by the most excellent surgeon, Ayman Abdelrazeq, who I can honestly say is a genuine, kind and caring gentleman who always had time to speak to me and my mum.

His registrar Ashutosh Tandon was also very kind and caring and he went the extra mile.

The high standards of care did not end there.

My mum was cared for by a team of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, nursing staff, pharmacists etc.

The staff on ward A6 worked exceptionally hard to deliver high quality care at all times for my mum and other patients on the ward.

I have always enjoyed working at the trust, however after this personal experience the sense of pride I now feel working for an organisation that delivers exceptionally high standards of care is really overwhelming.
WHH is a fantastic place to work and to receive healthcare should you need it.

I would like to say a big thank you to all the staff, especially Abdelrazeq, Ashutosh Tandon and the ward A6 staff, the waiting list team for the care she was given and the quick diagnosis and treatment she received.
