I THINK James Wilson (Warrington Guardian, October 29) should read my letter again.
I wasn’t complaining about Tory bashing, after all any incumbent political party is fair game for criticism, It should keep them on their toes.
What I was complaining about was a lack of a balanced view by Pete Magill, who has been quiet on the subject since my letter.
It was not a north-south bashing letter. There’s an old cliche that two wrongs don’t make a right, and, if it’s wrong, as Mr Magill points out, that the Tories spend a disproportionate amount of their money in the south, then it is equally wrong that our Labour council spends a disproportionate amount of money in the north of Warrington. For a balanced editorial, he should have highlighted both issues.
Mr Wilson, I agree wholeheartedly that a caring society has an absolute obligation to look after its vulnerable. I would expect no less.
However, a pot hole in the road doesn’t discriminate between the vulnerable from a more able member of our society.
Hitting one, on a bicycle, could result in serious injury, whether you’re ‘vulnerable’ or not.
Mr Wilson your letter would indicate that the only people inhabiting the north of the town are vulnerable and that is why our council spends its money there.
That is a nonsense.
I have many friends and family in north Warrington and they are all fine, decent and very capable people.
They do not need nannying.
