ON the day you published the threatened closure of several Warrington Libraries I could not believe that Culture Warrington is proposing to create a heritage mural on the wall of the Pyramid.
Notwithstanding that this is a grade II listed building and located in a conservation area, the appropriateness of the mural as a means of promoting the town’s heritage must seriously be questioned.
The mural depicts several existing buildings and structures in the town such as the Barley Mow, parish church, Golden Gates etc, all of which can be viewed in the flesh a short walking distance away.
Your article did not mention the cost of the mural though no doubt Warrington Culture did not inform you of this.
I note that the planning application was submitted by Derek Dick. Surely he can utilise his time in promoting the town’s heritage better than this.
