WITH regards to the letters featured about the weeds in Euclid Avenue (Warrington Guardian, August 25).

Could I firstly express my thanks to the instigator Gary Bebbington. A few days after my response to his original letter the whole of Euclid Avenue was sprayed by the borough council and the weeds have now almost gone.

It was interesting to read the comments from Ian Johnson, from Padgate, about the council’s budget for this – something to keep in mind for the future.

Is there one to cover the removal of dog faeces which are left regularly by non-residents’ dogs on the way to the park?

Residents in Euclid Avenue have observed and it is not the dogs from this avenue causing the problem.

About the traffic situation Mr Bebbington, I would gladly swap your twice daily school time rat run for our 24/7 one – weekends being just as much a problem.

There certainly cannot be the speed issues there that we suffer because of the layout of the roads.

In conclusion it might have been better for residents on both sides of Chester Road to get together and tackle the powers that be on these issues rather than to write the patronising comments on how the residents of Euclid Avenue should take more pride in where they live.

I can assure you we do and the majority of residents take a great deal of pride in their surroundings.

I did have cause to go to the post office last week and I was surprised to see that that area was no better nor worse than the other side of Chester Road.

So Mr Bebbington let’s not cause a Chester Road divide – if there are issues to be faced we could tackle them together.
