ALTHOUGH the issue of fly-tipping in Warrington is of great concern and unacceptable, I wonder if council staff realise that if they keep turning people awary from tips and refuse sites, then people will resort to fly-tipping out of desperation and not just ignorance.

I think the council policy is exacerbating the situation.

Warrington tips and refuse sites no longer allow people with trailers or vans or repeat journeys for fear of commercial use.

It is becoming ever more difficult to get household and garden waste deposited at the tip.

From a personal experience I am talking about Gatewarth tip in Sankey Bridges where we were turned away.

I am a resident who uses the tip on an infrequent basis but what am I to do with this rubbish?

If I burn it then the smoke will have an adverse affect on the environment.

If I keep it in my garden then it is an eyesore and unusable.

So I can well understand some people resorting to fly-tipping if they are as frustrated as I am.

If the council will not allow reasonable waste to be deposited because of cost cutting, most people will be forced to resort to flytipping.

And the council will have to stand the cost of cleaning up more sites like Black Bear Park (Warrington Guardian, August 25).
