TO the residents of Euclid Avenue and St Wilfred’s Drive in Grappenhall.
The appearance of your streets are an absolute disgrace.
The gutters and kerbs are full of weeds and overgrown grass and make the street scene scruffy and unkempt – especially when some of the houses are worth £300,000.
Has the penny not dropped yet Warrington Borough Council will no longer be carrying out weed spraying so that responsibility falls upon the householder now.
Weedkiller and brush and shovels are now required by every householder to clear the unsightly mess, which takes 10 minutes to clear.
I wrote to Grappenhall and Thelwall Parish Council last year about the same problem.
‘Oh we are considering a scheme to encourage residents to take care of the street scene where they live’, they replied – still nothing has happened.
They employ a parish warden at the cost of £9.07p per hour – why isn’t he being utilised to carry out tasks like this isn’t that part of his job description ?
