WARRINGTON Festival is not solely run by Culture Warrington, it is organised by a board of partners from major organisations in the town including Warrington Borough Council, Contest Sports, LiveWire, Warrington Wolves, Golden Square and Warrington Voluntary Action.

The festival aims to give people the opportunity to access a variety of events which celebrate sport, culture and entertainment building on the success of the Rugby League World Cup which came to the town in 2013.

As well as a ticketed headline music event, the festival provides a number of free events across its two-week duration which are funded by sponsorship from businesses and not taxpayers.

We also launched a crowdfunding campaign in June to try to generate more income to sustain this inclusive festival for years to come.

In response to the claims in last week’s paper (Warrington Guardian, June 30) that there is a ‘face-off ’ between organisations in the town in order to host the biggest festival, the Warrington Festival Steering Group believes that two festivals which offer different genres of events can only have a positive effect on the town’s growing cultural offer and will provide more opportunities for people to access music, sport and entertainment in their town.
