WHY won’t the Government spend money containing immigration?

Because it thinks or hopes it will win the remain argument.

If it does win then it will only have to stop uncontrolled immigration from non-EU countries and the question of controlling immigration from the EU will not arise.

They will say ‘we are not allowed to by EU treaty’.

We have a clue from the measures now in place.

The new boarder force budget has been cut by nearly £50 million in the past three years to £558 million this year.

We now have just three boarder force vessels to patrol more than 7,000 miles of UK coastline.

France has 40, and Italy 600.

The boarder force officers are charged with the duty of ‘stopping, boarding, diverting and detaining’ vessels, and arresting anyone they suspect of breaking immigration law.

Can or won’t control immigration?
