I RECEIVED my new council tax bill which included a flyer explaining about the new fire stations and engines which was all very nice.
But when I looked at my bill I noticed that I had an extra charge on my bill of £21.43.
This is being explained away by the council as an ‘adult and social charge’.
Nowhere in the information included explained what this payment is for.
So I asked neighbours and friends if they knew what it was for and everyone I asked said no.
But on searching the internet I found that the Government has instructed councils to charge people this extra amount to raise funds.
Surely social care falls under the NHS and not for the people of this town to foot an extra cost of tax just to save the Government more money?
Is this just another fresh air tax that the Government invented just to let local government raise funds to use for whatever they want?
This has been done very quietly because when I have asked people about it, they knew nothing until re-checking their new bill.
What has not been explained by Warrington Borough Council is what and where is this adult social care?
Who is in charge of this adult social care?
Who decides what and who this money is used for?
Is this social care tax tax going to increase each year?
Someone from this council needs to come out and explain to the people of Warrington what this new tax is and why they’ve invented it.
