AFTER reading the article ‘Veteran Expelled’ (Warrington Guardian, March 24), I cannot believe the appalling defamation of character by other council members.

Cllr Bill Brinksman has worked tirelessly over a number of years for the people of Woolston.

He was elected for a four-year term only to be deselected halfway through that term.

The same applies to Paul Bretherton who was elected last May for three years.

Both councillors were deselected on the grounds that ‘their wards no longer exist due to boundary changes’ – this information having come from Helen Jones’s parliamentary office.

If this is the case then why are two replacement candidates being put forward instead of the two successful people that already represent?

Or is it because one of the replacement candidates works in Helen Jones’s office?

As for council members coming up with names such as Councillor Coward and Who in the register, all I can say is grow up and act like the responsible people that you are supposed to be.

It takes courage to announce that you will stand as an independent representative when you have just been deselected by the party you have supported for numerous years.

Clearly it only goes to show that Cllr Brinksman still wants to achieve better things for the people of Woolston so had no alternative but to follow the action that he has announced.
