STATISTICS prove that unemployed people suffering with a disability take an average of two years before they can find work, that compares with just an average of six months for a person without a disability.
As a result of this prolonged period of poverty the disabled person will receive an extra £30 a week (employment support allowance).
However this current Government motioned a bill that will take away this disability benefit.
Even though the House of Lords has rejected this plan on two occasions since June last year, the Conservative Government again voted to cut this benefit, stating it will encourage the disabled to find work more quickly.
The most shocking part of the story is this.
Conservative MP for Warrington South David Mowat voted for the cuts.
Yet how can this be?
Mr Mowat claims to be a patron of Warrington Disability Partnership’s Disability Awareness Day.
Not only is this hypocritical it gets worse. Because David Cameron, the Prime Minister and Conservative Party leader, realising the unfairness of the cuts, voted against them. Therefore Mr Mowat cannot even claim to be following his party leader.
More than 26,000 thousand people voted to elect Mr Mowat – is this what you voted for?
I think an explanation from Mr Mowat is required.
