I READ that Satnam is trying again with yet another planning application to build homes on land at Peel Hall.
But it seems the stakes have been increased by a factor of 10 – it was 150 homes last time. Now it is ‘up to 1,500’.
As recently as August 2013, following a public inquiry, the planning inspector highlighted more than 60 reasons why that previously proposed development should not proceed.
So what has changed?
Last November the Guardian reported that Satnam had destroyed vegetation on the land at Peel Hall, with a likely adverse impact on the wildlife there.
One can only but wonder if this may have weakened the argument that development would be detrimental to the environment, thereby facilitating planning approval?
