LIKE many of your readers, I have also had a problem with ParkingEye at Cockhedge (Warrington Guardian, January 14).

I was unaware of the new charges at the car park until I drove in on December 3 but understood that I had to pay for parking over the two hours.

I did my Christmas shopping in town and then more shopping in Asda.

I knew I was over the time and went to get my ticket.

I punched in my car registration but the machine didn’t state the amount I had to pay.

At the time, there was a young lad in a visibility jacket explaining to puzzled customers about the new charges.

I pointed out to him that the machine was not displaying the amount and he said it was £3 ‘even if you are 20 seconds over the time’.

I paid the £3 and received my ticket.

On December 30, I received a letter demanding £100 and although I emailed my appeal (and received an acknowledgement) asking if they would please read the printout from the machine again,I still received another reminder on January 7 for the £100.

I sent yet another email (which again was automatically acknowledged) and I have now been told my appeal has failed.

If this company can take photographs of the cars and the drivers as they come in perhaps they can check the CCTV cameras round the pay machines as well?

I have not used the car park since nor do I intend to.
