I AM writing to say how much I enjoyed the article on the Odeon.
I was a student usherette there for some years and although the uniform was atrocious, I loved the job and stayed on after I secured full time work to top up my income.
I am still in touch with some of the other student usherettes from that time and we were all delighted to read the article and to hear from Mike Channing who was a fabulous manager.
I do hope that when the new cinema opens the uniforms might reflect the purple colouring of the old Odeon ones and that Mike will be asked to open it.
If you are in touch with Mike Channing still could you please pass on our fondest regards from Julie Williams (now Dove) Pauline Darbyshire (now Glynn) and Sandra Ellison (now Farminer) who now lives in Australia but was keen for me to email the piece to her.
We have very fond memories of our time at the Odeon.
JULIE DOVE
