I HAVE lived in Warrington for a long time and it is hard to remember an event that was as excellent as last month’s English Half Marathon.

To see thousands and thousands of people run through the streets of our town was incredible.

The town centre route was an inspired move as the previous version was really only noticed if you live in the south of Warrington.

And the finish at the Golden Gates was magical.

Well done to all involved, it is a real celebration and what other event can bring so many people to Warrington on a Sunday other than the rugby?

I am sure the event will continue to grow and be even better next year.

This is the sort of event the council should be spending its money on rather than pop singers such as Pixie Lott.
