THE most worrying aspect of the controversy surrounding car parking charges at Warrington Hospital is the number of people who, having parked and paid, are then receiving further demands for payment through the post.

The most complaints seem to be about the digits of the inputted car registration being out of sequence or a single digit missing.

Having never used these parking facilities I can only assume that the operational method of payment for these machines is deliberately complex in order to frustrate people.

This is mainly the elderly and the infirm, many of whom will pay these charges without complaint and the few who do complain can have the charges quashed.

With modern technology these disputes can easily be settled and with a bit of common sense from the car park operator, assuming these machines are ‘not’ set to deceive the vulnerable, they needn’t arise at all.
