CONSERVATIVE MP Mr David Mowat claimed in his election information that he was a patron of the Disability Awareness Day.

That would give you the suggestion that he cares about the disabled. Yet in George Osborne’s Conservative Budget, work-seeking disabled people have just been slaughtered.

According to George Osborne the average person who is unemployed and receiving job seekers' allowance finds work within six months. He says that it takes a disabled person two years to find work.

Naturally the person with a disability will therefore be living in poverty for a much longer period. As a result, the disabled were always given a slightly higher benefit award. This has now been taken away and the disabled seeking work will now be put on JSA.

If the disabled are going to be put in the same benefit category as the average unemployed then I would expect that 'patron' Mr Mowat MP will be working with local businesses to ensure that they are in work within the average six months. For if they are not, it will be clear that they are being treated second best in the employment market place.

This will be a clear indication of employer discrimination.

I would also like Mr Mowat MP to confirm that he and the Conservative government will be taking full responsibility for making sure that businesses make no discrimination against the disabled.

I would think it only fair that Mr Mowat MP publishes the proof that the disabled are able to find work within the same time frame as the mainstream claimant. We will be watching very closely.
