I AM appalled at being accused of not buying a ticket to park at Warrington Hospital.

This seems to be happening to dozens of people every week.

While waiting for a wheelchair at the main entrance we bought a ticket at one of the new ticket machines that have been located next to the chairs.

We had heard that disabled people have to pay under the new system and so we made sure we were covered by paying £3 for five hours, ample time for what is always a visit of less than two hours.

Therefore I was extremely angry to receive a letter from Highview Parking fining me for non-payment.

Through various Facebook groups it has been easy to discover countless other people who were mistakenly sent similar letters who had also bought a ticket.

It is quite clear and easy to prove that the Highview Parking machine or computer system is a failure and quite simply not fit for purpose: it has failed to keep accurate records and these letters should not have been sent.

I have asked Highview to doublecheck my car registration which must be on their system unless it is still failing to function accurately.

So far they have failed to reply.

I was taking my elderly mother for an appointment.

She is the most honest person you could hope to meet and this is the last thing she needs in the middle of numerous visits in the run-up to an operation.

We spent a disgusting hour rooting through two weeks worth of rubbish seeking our ticket to no avail. I am dreading going to the hospital next week.

There are several online groups where other people with exactly the same problem are adding comments (and often photographs of their purchased tickets).

I have been checking several times a day and have now lost count.
