IT is reported that just five wealthy people in Britain have the combined wealth and income of the poorest 12 million people.
Yet the Conservative Government has given these five people major tax cuts.
Now this Government states it needs to find £12 billion of welfare cuts. Firstly the Tories have suggested reducing working tax credit for those 12million in the lowest paid jobs.
So hands up if you think taking £1,000 a year off the poorest 12 million workers is the right way to find £12 billion.
Then they are suggesting that anyone who needs housing benefit due to their low paid work, will be asked to pay some or more of their rent, as this will help cut the housing benefit costs.
Yet it is a fact that Britain has the highest housing rents in Europe, it costs twice as much to rent in England than Germany. Is that not proof enough that it is not the tenants that are creating an excessive housing benefits cost but the rich greedy landlords?
So why does this Government not bring in rent controls on the rich landlord instead of imposing sanctions on the tenant? The Conservatives – the party of the working man – absolutely laughable.
