THE most depressing thing to come out of the election results in Warrington South was the total rejection of progressive politics.

The politics of fear triumphed over the politics of hope.

Not only a bigger majority for the Conservatives, but a total collapse of the Liberal Democrat vote.

What is odd though is why those people who voted Lib Dem last time (about 7,000 of them disappeared looking at the results) chose to vote Conservative rather than Labour – as seems to have happened.

The pair have been in coalition for the past five years, indeed it seems as though that was the reason for the complete collapse of the party vote nationwide.

As that was the case, why, if you voted for the Lib Dems five years ago, would you vote for the Tories now?

Which bit about their work did you not like from the Coalition Government?

The protection of child allowance? The scrapping of the bedroom tax?

Or is it just totally selfish?

Now the economy is on the road to recovery, do we just think that the Conservatives will simply make everyone a little bit more wealthy.

And who cares what happens to the NHS and our schools in the meantime.

All right, let’s forget about any political parties who want to create a better society for all and improve the town and country for the greater good.
