AS a regular visitor to Warrington and as a Warringtonian who left the town in 1965, Bridge Street is an absolute disgrace – what is it? It is certainly not a retail area.
When I was growing up in Warrington in the 50s and 60s, Bridge Street and the surrounding streets were wonderful places to shop with a marvellous variety.
Not now, it is a disgrace with only the marvellous Hancock and Woods to alleviate it.
Preston Fishergate was recently voted the worst High Street in the UK, I’m afraid Bridge Street is worse.
It is a another testament to useless national and local politicians – are they unable to see the eyesore in front of them? Warrington is a great town, but Bridge Street – aaagh!
