I UNDERWENT a full hip replacement on April 24.

As you can appreciate, following this major surgery I am in a lot of pain and discomfort.

Due to the surgery, I am unable to drive for at least six weeks, this has rendered my virtually housebound.

Today my friend very kindly visited and took me by car to Riverside Retail Park in order for me to collect goods from Homebase.

On arrival I asked my friend to park in one of the many disabled bays near the entrance.

This was to facilitate me getting in an out of the vehicle and due to my difficulty walking. As we parked I saw a parking attendant standing in front of our car.

I then took some time getting out of the vehicle owing to the pain I am experiencing and walked slowly past the parking attendant on my crutches.

As I passed the attendant he nodded to me in acknowledgement.

We then spent no more than 10 minutes in the store and to my surprise, upon return to the vehicle we found we had been given a £100 parking ticket for parking in the disabled bay.

Obviously the attendant was nowhere to be seen and on telephoning the company we were dismissed.

What happened to common sense?

This man saw us park and watched me struggle to exit the vehicle and walk but none the less saw fit to issue the fine.

On return to the vehicle I was approached by a lady who told me a similar thing had happened to her recently.

I am disgusted with UKPC.
